Metadata Control

“Enterprises need a centralized integration competency center and a repository of application integration metadata to be more effective, have less costly development projects and deliver business solutions on time.”

Application integration metadata documents the myriad application interfaces which support information exchange in the integration environment.  This metadata can be in many forms, from manually constructed spreadsheet tables to XSL/T files that perform direct XML-to-XML data transformation.  Careful, centralized management of integration metadata is an essential part of an optimal integration strategy.  Because all information transformation performed by the ISS Semantic Engine is supported by the I3 Semantic Repository (I3SR), any application interface which is mapped to the ISS is automatically documented in the I3 Metadata.  Interfaces being serviced by other integration middleware can be added to the I3SR simply by providing a parallel mapping to ISS.  Once included in the I3SR, the interface description is accessible to all the information-based search and analysis tools which operate on the repository.  Using these tools, the integration competency center can effectively manage changes encountered during and after the integration.
