In 2023, GPS Trackit introduced several product updates designed to improve fleet visibility, reporting, customer communication, maintenance workflows, alerts, and driver safety. This year-end roundup highlights some of the platform enhancements that helped fleet teams manage vehicles, drivers, and daily operations more effectively.
Customer Communication and ETA Updates
The ETA Link feature made it easier for fleet teams to share arrival information with customers. Instead of relying only on manual phone calls or status updates, teams could send customers a clickable link by text or email so they could see when a vehicle or service team was expected to arrive.
For field service, delivery, and route-based operations, better ETA visibility can support more accurate customer communication and reduce uncertainty when schedules change during the day.
Reporting and Dashboard Enhancements
GPS Trackit also expanded reporting capabilities in 2023. Updates made it easier to schedule reports by report type, use daily date ranges and start/end times, pin recently generated reports, run specific reports, load historical data, toggle between units and time frames, and delete generated reports individually or in bulk.
These reporting updates applied to commonly used reports such as Start Stop Idle, Mileage, Advanced Summary, and Moving Reports.
Activity with Hour Meter reporting
The platform also added Activity with Hour Meter reporting, giving fleet teams another way to review engine run time. This report breaks activity into idle and movement time, shows event duration with location and start date/time, and provides hour-meter visibility tied to engine usage.
Driver Behavior and Safety Updates
The Behavior Reports tab gave fleet teams more ways to review driver safety activity. Users could set safety-violation calculations, review risk-factor scoring, and filter results by unit, driver, tag, select list, or risk factor.
GPS Trackit also introduced Driver Safety Assistance for compatible video telematics configurations. This feature supported audible in-cab coaching for events such as cell phone use, distracted driving, close following, no seat belt, and tailgating.
Video Telematics Improvements
For fleets using video telematics, the Request Video feature made it possible to request and review clips from specific periods when a vehicle’s engine was running. Once clips were ready, users could review and download them through the video section of the platform.
GPS Trackit also introduced Camera as GPS functionality, allowing compatible video telematics cameras to support both camera and GPS capabilities in certain configurations. This simplified installation for fleets that did not require a separate tracking device for every vehicle.
Alerts, Geofences, and Location Tools
The Recent Alerts dashboard gave fleet teams an easier way to review triggered alerts within a selected date range. Users could filter alerts by unit, driver, tags, or individual items, making it easier to identify activity that needed attention.
Landmarks and geofences also received usability improvements. Updates included visibility toggles, custom icons, bulk actions, square landmark creation, and options to create locations using latitude and longitude.
Maintenance and Equipment Data Updates
Maintenance updates made it easier for fleet teams to communicate service needs. Users could download lists of steps and parts related to vehicle maintenance, helping teams share clearer information with mechanics and service technicians.
The Maintenance Checklist feature also gave users a way to create preventive maintenance reminders and print checklists that included estimated maintenance costs.
GPS Trackit also introduced AEMP API telematics integration to help teams work with equipment data from multiple sources. This type of integration can support more consistent equipment visibility across mixed fleets and assets from different manufacturers.
Driver App Updates
GPS Trackit also announced a new Driver Application designed to replace the previous FSM application. The updated app was built to support fleet service management workflows with separate sections for routes and forms, chat functionality, customizable forms, and the ability to send individual stops to drivers.
